We're heading into college football bowl season, which is now College Football Playoff season thanks to the 12-team format, but that also means it's time to start discussing the Heisman Trophy.
It has been a fantastic year across the sport, but several players stepped up to prove that they're the best of the best. Two of those players are on teams that could very well win the CFP, but either way, each of these players is well deserving to be considered for college football's greatest individual honor.
The finalists were announced during the pregame for ESPN's "Monday Night Football" game against the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys.
They are quarterback Dillon Gabriel from Oregon, cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter from Colorado, Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty and Miami quarterback Cam Ward:

Gabriel's Ducks are 13-0 and ranked as the No. 1 team in the CFP. He's thrown for 3,558 yards and 28 touchdowns this season (six interceptions) while also rushing for seven touchdowns.
Hunter is a two-way phenom for Colorado, who caught 92 passes for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns for the Buffaloes while notching four interceptions and 11 passes defended as a cornerback on defense.
Jeanty is a hard-nosed runner for No. 9 Boise State, who rushed 344 times for an incredible 2,497 yards and 29 touchdowns this season.
Ward threw for 4,123 yards and 36 touchdowns (seven interceptions) while also rushing for four touchdowns.
The winner of the 2024 Heisman Trophy will be announced on Dec. 14.
