Watch: Delusional Brian Kelly Digs His Own Grave

During a season Brian Kelly claimed was about accountability, he says, "See you at the National Championship!" Does he know LSU is 8-4 and will only go to Atlanta if his team buys tickets?

It's been a wild year in college football, and nowhere has it been as wild as Baton Rouge. Heading into the third year of Brian Kelly brought BIG expectations.

Fox Local 8 New Orleans aired Brian Kelly's most recent press conference.

He said, "We're taking receipts, and we'll see you at the national championship."

I don't know what national championship Kelly refers to, but his receipts will only be helpful if he gets things moving in that direction next season. Not only did he fail his self-proclaimed season of accountability, but he's also not the only one keeping receipts.

The LSU fans are keeping receipts after a disappointing four-loss regular season. Recruits are also keeping receipts, not only because of a disappointing three seasons, but because of how he has handled players on the sidelines.

Multiple times this season, Brian Kelly was caught on camera cussing out and screaming at players. I get it, though: It's big-time college football with big-time money and big-time expectations.

However, Brian Kelly's hiring seemed like a bad idea from the start. It all started with his fake accent. Being from Brian Kelly's home state of Massachusetts, it was hilarious to see him walking into the LSU gymnasium and putting on his fake Southern accent.

That makes me think Mike Elko's comments about a smooth, fast-talking salesman weren't about Jimbo Fisher. Maybe Elko was talking about his buddy Brian Kelly. Elko was Kelly's defensive coordinator at Notre Dame.

The landscape of college football is changing and it's great to call people out when they doubt you and say you're taking receipts. It's another thing when portraying yourself as a character right out of the gate. If you put on a fake persona you better be able to back it up, but Brian Kelly has not.

He's talking about taking receipts because he knows how deep he dug his hole, and he's trying to impress people by making them think he and his team are motivated.

I'm not buying it for one second. If he were focused on being accountable this season, he would take full accountability for their four-loss regular season.

He is putting on another fake act, a fake tough guy act, instead of the Southern charm.

While he's talking about receipts, maybe he needs to realize that the receipts against him are longer than a CVS receipt. He may need to take a step back, look in the mirror, and take full responsibility.

In the midst of all of this, he lost a major commitment from a big-time player. Bryce Underwood, one of the top quarterback recruits in the nation, flipped his commitment from LSU to Michigan.

Instead of taking receipts and talking about "See you at the National Championship," he should focus on how his resume looks. Because LSU doesn't have a long leash. Just ask Ed Oregon.

The LSU atmosphere deserves better than this.
