Duke was either tied or trailing Northwestern for the majority of the game until Maalik Murphy hit Eli Pancol for a three-yard touchdown on the second play of the second overtime. After an unsuccessful 2-point attempt, Northwestern trailed 26-20. The Wildcats had a 3rd-and-1 from the Duke three-yard line, but Chandler Rivers blew up the Northwestern running back, knocking them back to the 11-yard line.
