Watch: Iowa tries a fake kneel down play (and it does not work)

The Iowa Hawkeyes tried to dip into their bag of trick plays on Saturday afternoon when they ran fake kneel down play at the end of the first half against Michigan.

Already trailing 13-0, with seconds remaining in the half, and sitting more than 70 yards from the end zone, Iowa lined up in a kneel down formation to suggest they were simply going to run out the clock and go into halftime.

Then this happened.

If you are going to implement that play into your offense it has to be a wildly disappointing result to only gain six yards on it. Then again, only gaining six yards on that play seems perfect for the Iowa Hawkeyes offense. They entered Saturday's game averaging just 17 points per game, placing them 122nd out of 131 FBS college football programs.
That run was Iowa's longest run of the first half.
