The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets offense came to life just before halftime and they ripped off 6 touchdowns over their next 9 possessions to defeat the Louisville Cardinals, 46-27. Freshman quarterback Jeff Sims threw for 249 yards and 2 touchdowns and rushed for 64 yards and another score. Freshman running back Jahmyr Gibbs rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown and had 60 yards receiving and a receiving touchdown as well for the Yellow Jackets. Wide receiver Malachi Carter had 3 receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown for Georgia Tech as well. Louisville running back Javian Hawkins rushed for 155 yards, and quarterback Malik Cunningham threw for 229, rushed for 50 and was responsible for 4 touchdowns in the loss.
