SMU QB Kevin Jennings did not begin the season as the starter but finished the season as a third-team All-ACC recipient. He became the leader of the Mustangs and led them to an 11-3 record and 8 conference wins en route to an ACC Championship Game appearance and the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff. Jennings passed for 3,245 passing yards, rushed for another 354 and was responsible for 28 scores.  His game is that of a passer first and he utilizes his legs to help his receivers get open to create big plays. His 85.0 PFF passing grade ranked 10th among FBS signal-callers, as did his 90.6 PFF passing grade when kept clean.
