Watch: Tyler Nubin becomes Gophers' all-time interception leader in first half vs. Wisconsin
Matt Krohn-USA TODAY Sports

Minnesota Golden Gophers safety Tyler Nubin made some history as he set a school record with his 13th career interception at the end of the first half in a game against Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon.

The pick came in a last-second Hail Mary attempt by Badgers quarterback Tanner Mordecai, who launched the pass just short of the end zone and into the hands of Nubin as time expired.

With the interception, Nubin passed former Gophers Sean Lumpkin (1988-91) and Jeff Wright (1968-1970) who each had 12 career interceptions.

Nubin has been a bright spot for the Gophers' defense this season, recording 50 total tackles and four interceptions coming into Saturday's game.

The fifth-year senior from St. Charles, Illinois is also considered to be a top prospect in next year's NFL Draft, as Pro Football Focus has him as the No. 2 safety and No. 27 prospect overall on their 2024 big board.

Minnesota is tied with Wisconsin 14-14 at halftime.
