It took until their second possession, but West Virginia’s first touchdown came as the result of a big moment for Leighton Bechdel. The WVU holder ran the ball in on a fake field goal attempt.
Bechdel’s score put the Mountaineers up 10-0 and stole some momentum away from the Wildcats. As Arizona thought they were forcing WVU to settle for only three points again in the red zone, a gutsy call by Neal Brown finally allowed WVU to punch it in for the touchdown.
