The Texas Longhorns don't have a clear path to the College Football Playoff, but on their end, it is quite simple as to what they need to do; win out.

With a chance to advance to the Big 12 title game and push their record to 11-1 on the year, the No. 7 Longhorns are taking on their in-state rival Texas Tech Red Raiders (6-5) Friday night. The Longhorns found themselves leading by a score of 10-7 following a rushing score by Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton, and needed an answer.

They got one just two plays later, as former five-star running back Jaydon Blue got a carry and made the most of it. He took his carry 69 yards for a touchdown, marking his second score of the year on the ground.

The touchdown gave Texas a 17-7 lead, as they appear to be in control of this game as halftime approaches. As for how Texas Tech responded, they were unable to continue building on their momentum, as the Texas defense sacked Morton for a loss of 11 on third down and chaos ensued right after.

With Texas Tech looking to punt on the very long fourth-and-25, it was safety Michael Taaffe who came through with a huge play as he blocked the punt. For the Longhorns, they have been building fairly large leads for about the past month, but they have struggled the most when it comes to closing these games out, blowing multiple leads and at times needing overtime to win.
