Way-Too-Early Auburn Football 2024 Schedule Predictions
Maria Lysaker-USA TODAY Sports

Auburn's 2024 schedule lines up in a very interesting way.

Five straight home games, the final one being the most difficult, before three straight road trips to former SEC East opponents. It's an odd way to ramp up into the slate, but it may be one that incredibly beneficial for Hugh Freeze in his second season with the Tigers.

As we enter 2024, here is a way-too-early prediction for Auburn football's 2024 schedule.

Vs Alabama A&M (Aug. 31)

Unless something truly chaotic happens here, it's difficult to imagine the Tigers losing their season opener to the Aggies. That being said, everyone witnessed what happened against New Mexico State, so... anything is possible?

Prediction: Auburn 45, Alabama A&M 13

Vs California (Sep. 7)

Cal gave the Tigers everything they had in Berkeley. It's reasonable to expect less of a defensive battle inside Jordan-Hare with a (hopefully) better offensive gameplan that Hugh Freeze has his hand over.

Prediction: Auburn 30, California 22

Vs New Mexico (Sep. 14)

Be thankful that this is merely New Mexico and not New Mexico State, Auburn. The Lobos finished 4-8 in 2023 and should not be as much of a threat as the Aggies were in late November.

Prediction: Auburn 51, New Mexico 17

Vs Arkansas (Sep. 21)

No KJ Jefferson. No Rocket Sanders. The Razorbacks could be in for a world of hurt in 2024. This early season matchup against a revamped Auburn squad could be one of frustration for Sam Pittman & Co.

Prediction: Auburn 35, Arkansas 6

Vs Oklahoma (Sep. 28)

This is where the Tigers' schedule begins to get a little tricky. Oklahoma now has to find a new answer at quarterback following Dillon Gabriel's departure. A top-five offense now needs Jackson Arnold to grow up quickly, hoping that the Sooners' below-average defense takes a step forward.

This one could go either way if Oklahoma can move the ball consistently early in the year. If Auburn's defense takes a step back as expected, it could be very close.

Prediction: Oklahoma 34, Auburn 31

At Georgia (Oct. 5)

It would be fun to predict an Auburn win in Athens for the first time since 2005, but after seeing what the Bulldogs did to Florida State it can be easy to envision what Georgia's season looks like: A warpath to the college football playoff.

Auburn may end up being a stepping stone on that path.

Prediction: Georgia 38, Auburn 14

- Bye Week -

At Missouri (Oct. 19)

The Tigers surpassed all expectations this season, going 11-2 and capping off the year with a win over Ohio State in their bowl game. Brady Cook should be returning in 2024, but top running back Cody Schrader and wideout Luther Burden III are both on their way out.

This may not be a popular prediction right now, but Auburn gets a win on the road in CoMo to get things back on track.

Prediction: Auburn 27, Missouri 21

At Kentucky (Oct. 26)

Unlike Missouri, Mark Stoops and the Wildcats underachieved relative to expectations. The offense wasn't as explosive as some expected it to be. Devin Leary actively sold games at times. Brad White, who has piloted solid defenses for four seasons at UK just simply fell apart in 2023.

This game should be fun, but Auburn feels like the better team on paper.

Prediction: Auburn 37, Kentucky 28

Vs Vanderbilt (Nov. 2)

Hugh Freeze seemed to have a propensity to play down to competition during year one on the Plains. One would hope with better offensive talent and more attention given to the scheme that won't be the case again.

Just don't lose to Vanderbilt.

Prediction: Auburn 35, Vanderbilt 10

- Bye Week -

Vs ULM (Nov. 16)

It would be easy to say that the Warhawks provide no challenge to Auburn, but again, see New Mexico State.

This should be the second-easiest win on the schedule. Emphasis on should.

Prediction: Auburn 56, ULM 20

Vs Texas A&M (Nov. 23)

Texas A&M loses a decent amount of talent in Mike Elko's first season on the job. He's a solid coach who should produce results in year one, but nabbing one on the road against Auburn may prove to be difficult,

This is a very losable game, but right now the Tigers should be favored.

Prediction: Auburn 23, Texas A&M 17

At Alabama (Nov. 30)

Second year of Jalen Milroe at the helm. Nick Saban, presumably not retired, gunning for a national championship in the first season of the expanded SEC.

It's hard to see the Crimson Tide slipping up before the SEC championship game. It won't happen against Auburn, who hasn't won at Bryant-Denny since 2010.

Prediction: Alabama 38, Auburn 24

Final prediction

Final overall record: 9-3

Conference record: 5-3
