Columbia, South Carolina will play host to an SEC showdown on Saturday as the LSU Tigers (1-1) will travel into town to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks (2-0).
In what could be considered the marquee matchup of the weekend, LSU and South Carolina are set to do battle in front of what will be a rowdy crowd and environment come kickoff at noon ET.
Speaking of rowdy environments, "College GameDay" chose to go take its show to Columbia for Week 3, picking this game over the likes of Alabama vs. Wisconsin and Oregon vs. Oregon State. It just goes to show how highly the CFB world thinks of the Tigers and Gamecocks and the atmosphere that will be in Columbia on Saturday.

What exactly is on the line for the two teams? For LSU, it's getting the first Power 5 victory of the season, as its first game was a blown lead against the USC Trojans. A bounce-back win last week against Nicholls State doesn't move the needle for anyone, so Saturday against the Gamecocks is the first real chance to avenge the Week 1 loss.
Starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has been exceptional to start the season. Nussmeier has thrown for 610 yards with eight touchdowns. He seems to be picking up right where the 2023 Heisman winner and this past NFL Draft's No. 2 overall pick, Jayden Daniels, left off.
The LSU defense has been the issue so far, as it is allowing 371 yards per game through the first two games of the year, something that will need to be addressed if this team has any hopes of making a run into the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff.
South Carolina is looking to start 2-0 in SEC play for the first time since back in 2012. After a dominating win over Kentucky last Saturday, the Gamecocks come into this game against LSU with high expectations and they have the entire college football world buzzing.
Led by redshirt freshman quarterback LaNorris Sellers, the Gamecocks head into Saturday's matchup with a lot of confidence in their young quarterback after his Week 2 performance against Kentucky.

Defensively for the Gamecocks, they are one of the nation's top five teams in sacks this season. They are also a defense that collected two interceptions against Kentucky, one of which was returned for a touchdown by safety Nick Emmanwori.

With a heavy chance of rain forecasted on Saturday in Columbia, expect both teams to try and pound the football for most of the day.
