Pro Football Focus NFL draft analyst Trevor Sikkema likes Tennessee Vols running back Jaylen Wright a lot.
He likes Wright enough, in fact, to rank the former Vol as his No. 2 running back in the 2024 NFL Draft, behind Texas running back Jonathon Brooks.
From PFF: Wright is an NFL-caliber athlete for the running back position. His youth is both a positive (lack of mileage) and a negative (lack of consistent RB vision), but he has succeeded in both gap and zone-blocking concepts and has top-tier pass protection ability for three-down potential in the NFL.
Wright, who left Tennessee with a year of eligibility remaining, has seen his draft stock increase significantly over the last couple of months.
A strong performance at the NFL scouting combine (4.38 in the 40 yard dash, plus the longest broad jump of any running back), combined with film that shows Wright's elite skills in pass protection, has the Durham, NC native rapidly climbing draft boards.
Unfortunately for Wright, running back is a position that isn't valued in the NFL like it used to be.
Still, Wright should hear his name called in the middle rounds of the draft at the latest. He has a legit change to be a day two selection.
