Coleman Owen spent a single season with the Ohio Bobcats, putting up impressive numbers rivalling some of the best players in the country. He is now anticipated to be a late-round gem in the 2025 NFL draft.
With so much focus on the first round of the 2025 draft, a lot of talent is flying under the radar. One name that catches the eye of those who take the time to watch his tape, is Coleman Owen.
Formerly of Northern Arizona, Owen transferred to Ohio, looking for an opportunity to prove himself in his final year of college. He put up career-high numbers, ranking among the best receivers in the country statistically, and is now hoping for an opportunity to make plays in the NFL.
Coleman Owen was a zero-star recruit coming out of high school, enrolling at Northern Arizona in his home state in 2019.
In four seasons playing for the Lumberjacks, Owen caught 176 passes for 2,271 yards and 17 touchdowns. Before the 2024 season, he transferred to the Ohio Bobcats and with that came a step-up in the competition. Coach Brian Smith was the only FBS coach in the country who would listen to Owen’s pitch.
It paid off in a hurry. Coleman Owen had the best season of his career. Not only did he lead the team in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns, but his numbers ranked him among the top receivers in the country.
With 78 catches, 1,246 yards and eight touchdowns, Owen’s stats line up very closely to Tet McMillan’s, graded a first-round draft pick. Paired with running back Anthony Tyus III, the two became the first 1,000+ rushing and receiving duo in Ohio Bobcat history.
What a Season these 3 roommates had in 2024. What is more amazing is that these guys are even better people than they are players. #MortarMen pic.twitter.com/1R6rHy1cK9

According to PFF, Coleman Owen was the second-best receiver in the country against man coverage throughout the 2024 season. He is expected to be a late-day-three option or a potential undrafted free agent. He’s an older rookie, but the value he could add means there will be teams willing to take a shot on him.
Coleman Owen’s build and playing style are similar to that of Gunner Olszewski. The New York Giants receiver is six feet and 190 lbs, and was an undrafted free agent in 2019. He became a special-teams contributor in the NFL, and Coleman Owen is capable of doing the same, if not more.

Coleman Owen ran a 4.43 40-yard dash at his pro day. It’s an unofficial time recorded by hand, but seems to be in the region of his speed on the field.

Coleman Owen might not find himself drafted in the same round as some of the NFL draft’s top receivers, but he certainly challenged their numbers in 2024.

Coleman Owen could land somewhere on day three of the NFL draft, but even if he does go undrafted, he’ll be picked up quickly. Here are three teams that may need production out of the slot:
At his pro day, Coleman Owen spoke with the Arizona Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, and the Miami Dolphins. Maybe one of those four teams will end up adding him to their roster during the NFL draft.
