Why Kalen DeBoer feels having Kadyn Proctor is ‘big deal’ for Alabama
Gary Cosby Jr.-Tuscaloosa News / USA TODAY NETWORK

Kalen DeBoer, like many other members of the Alabama faithful, is excited to have Kadyn Proctor back in Tuscaloosa.

Proctor entered the transfer portal in January after Nick Saban retired. The former five-star announced a decision to transfer to Iowa a few days after entering the portal. In a bit of a surprising twist, Proctor re-entered the portal and transferred back to Alabama last month.

DeBoer likes what he has seen from Proctor in his return to Tuscaloosa so far.

“He was a guy who was going to play a significant role in the program,” DeBoer told reporters at the recent Nick’s Kids golfing tournament. “To lose him and to now get him back, that’s a big deal for us. I think he’s just done a great job of meshing back with his friends, but most importantly his teammates. Excited to get him back into our workouts this summer.”

The Iowa product started in 14 games at left tackle for Alabama as a freshman. He was selected to the All-SEC Freshman Team by the conference coaches.
