Will Donald Trump serve fast food again when LSU visits White House?
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

A White House official has confirmed that Donald Trump will host the LSU Tigers football team on Friday to honor them for winning the national championship, according to a report from WAFB-9.

The most curiously pressing question about the Tigers being feted at the White House on Friday is whether Trump will again serve fast food to the championship squad.

Trump of course infamously served fast food to the Clemson Tigers football team in 2019 when the title team paid a visit to the White House.

The menu for Friday’s event has not been released, but given how Trump touted the spread last year, there’s at least a chance fast food could again be prevalent.

“I think we are going to serve McDonald’s, Wendy’s and Burger King’s with some pizza. I really mean it,” Trump said at the time, as chronicled Thursday by The Washington Post. “It will be interesting. I would think that’s their favorite food. So we’ll see what happens.”

“We have everything that I like, that you like,” Trump told the team when players arrived, “and I know no matter what we did, there’s nothing you could have that’s better than that, right?”

Reactions to the fast-food spread were mixed when it came to Clemson football players last year. It will be interesting to see whether the response is similarly divided should the same scenario play out on Friday.

Trump, who attended LSU’s 42-25 victory over Clemson on Monday night alongside First Lady Melania Trump, received a warm reception by fans in attendance at Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Trump’s presence at the game elicited hearty cheers as brief chants of “USA!” spread through the crowd. The overwhelmingly positive response stood in stark contrast to the chilly greeting Trump received at Nationals Park last October when he attended Game 5 of the World Series.
