Miyan Williams’ Big Game

The Buckeye’s run game has been a two-headed monster this season with William and Henderson. However, TreVeyon Henderson was out, giving Miyan Williams the bulk of the carries. Clearly, Williams could handle the workload as he demolished the Rutgers defense Saturday. Williams rushed 21 times for 189 yards and five touchdowns, tying the school record of five.

All this while thrashing the Scarlett Knight for nine yards per carry. Williams showed that he could carry the load of work with Henderson out and fortified him as a top running back in the nation. So far this season, Williams has rushed 64 times for 497 yards and eight touchdowns. He was also rushing for 7.8 yards per carry. At the pace he’s running right now, Williams could be a finalist for the Doak Walker Award by the end of this season.

Defense Looks Stout for Buckeyes

The only thing that was as impressive as Williams this past weekend had to be the defense. If it weren’t for a muffed punt to start the game, the defense would have only given up three points. This was by far the best game the defense has had this season.

Nobody was bigger for the defense than Steele Chambers, as he was everywhere for the Buckeyes. Chambers had 11 total tackles, two tackles for loss, and one interception. His transition from running back to linebacker last season has been huge for the Buckeyes. Furthermore, Chambers is the linebacker that the Buckeyes have needed and is a major reason why the defense continues to improve every week.
