The college football transfer portal is officially open and the Wisconsin football team is not immune to players entering it. There have already been a few names mentioned, but none were a big surprise. Now a new Wisconsin football player entered the portal this morning. Chimere Dike, one of the Badgers’ top targets over the past few years, has entered the transfer portal for his final year of eligibility.

Wisconsin Football Receiver Chimere Dike Enters the Transfer Portal

Dike, a Wisconsin native, joined the Badgers as a 4-star recruit as a part of the 2020 recruiting class.

During his time in Madison, Dike tallied 1,478 yards on 97 receptions and added nine receiving touchdowns and a rushing touchdown.

Some may be surprised by this, while others may not. He was widely regarded as the top receiver for the Badgers heading into the 2023 season. But like the Wisconsin football offense, Dike’s 2023 campaign was a bit of a disappointment. He had just 19 receptions for 328 yards and a touchdown.

The crowded receiver room and change to the Air Raid offense likely contributed to Dike’s decline in production.

The Wisconsin football team loaded up with talent from the transfer portal last offseason, adding Bryson Green, CJ Williams, Will Pauling, and Quincy Burroughs.  Last offseason, Luke Fickell said he didn’t want to make getting a lot of players through the transfer portal a habit, but he may not have a choice. The transfer portal is going to be wild every year and players like Chimere Dike are going to be jumping in every year.
