The Wisconsin football staff has flipped one of the premier transfer commitments away from Louisville.

Former Stephen F. Austin defensive lineman Brandon Lane transferred to Louisville this off-season before making a u-turn on his commitment. Lane shined on the field for his former school, and chose to test his value in the transfer portal like many other collegiate players. After committing to Louisville out of the portal, Lane began talking to Wisconsin football heavily, and now will become a Badger next season.

Wisconsin Football Flips Louisville Commitment, Former Stephen F. Austin Star Brandon Lane

After committing and de-committing to Michigan State, four-star rated transfer Brandon Lane chose to commit to Louisville. Once again, Lane left his commitment, but has landed back up north this time with the Wisconsin football team. Lane, who originally signed with South Dakota State before transferring to Stephen F. Austin, is a talented and physically imposing defensive lineman.

Coming in at 6-foot-3-inches, Lane is a big, physical lineman that put extra power into his hits. This past season, Lane recorded 44 total tackles and 6.5 tackles for loss against opposing offenses.

After entering the transfer portal, Lane became a major name after programs like West Virginia, Michigan State, Oklahoma, and the Wisconsin football program. The defensive lineman stated he wanted to join a program that would ‘develop’ his skills through both a schematic fit and a knowledgeable coach. After a few decisions, it seems Lane feels most comfortable with the Wisconsin football staff.

Wisconsin Badgers Football Staff Adds a Talented Run-Stopper to the Defense

If there is one thing that Lane was brought to Madison to do, it is to stop the run. Lane is a talented defensive lineman, but his best skill set on defensive is by far his ability to disrupt the run. No matter who, or how many, blockers are brought his direction, Lane still finds a way to cause pressure on each play. Between his size and play style, moving Lane backwards is almost impossible.

For the Wisconsin Badgers football staff, Lane could become a player that truly makes a difference along the line due to his combination of tenacity and size.

Can Brandon Lane Become a Difference Maker for the Badgers?

If there was one position the Wisconsin staff could have named in regards to adding an upgrade, it would certainly come along the defensive line. Between the limited production last season and the transfer of starting defensive tackle Gio Paez, Wisconsin is down on defensive line firepower. However, Lane has the skills and potential to become the player who leads the line for Wisconsin.

The biggest question surrounding Lane, however, is if he will stay true to his commitment this time, after backing out of two previous ones.
