It’s hard to imagine two worlds colliding that make more sense than a Wisconsin football offensive lineman and a truck dealership as far as NIL partnerships go unless it was with a world-renowned food chain.

But for the second year in a row, the Fillback Family of Dealerships has given Wisconsin Badgers starting left tackle Jack Nelson a new Dodge Ram truck as part of a NIL partnership.

Thanks to the Varsity Collective, the University of Wisconsin has done an excellent job navigating this new NIL-driven world by helping connect its athletes with businesses.

According to On3’s Wisconsin football NIL valuations calculator, Jack Nelson is No. 6 on the Badgers’ list of highest-valued players, coming in at $175k a season.

Wisconsin Football Left Tackle Jack Nelson Returning in 2024

The Wisconsin football offensive line has built a reputation over the last two decades that the Badgers failed to protect in their first year under Jack Bicknell Jr. That’s why he was ‘re-assigned.’ Former Vanderbilt OL coach AJ Blazek was hired to help elevate that room heading into 2024.

While there have been several departures from said room in the transfer portal, the Wisconsin Badgers return staring left tackle Jack Nelson, right tackle Riley Mahlman, and offensive guard Joe Huber. Odds are, Jake Renfro will become the full-time starter at center following the departure of Tanor Bortolini to the NFL.

That’s a solid starting point for Wisconsin football heading into the spring. If this unit is going to return to their elite standard of play, they’ll need Nelson to have a bounce-back season.

Here’s to hoping through some continuity that the Wisconsin Badgers offensive line will take a step in year two of the air raid offense.
