The University of Wisconsin football program had another transfer portal wide receiver on campus for an official recruiting visit.

Boston College transfer Joseph Griffin Jr., a former four-star high school recruit, announced on social media that he wrapped up a trip to Madison.

“I would like to thank Head Coach Luke Fickell, Coach Kenny Guiton, & Coach Phil Longo for having me for an official visit at the University of Wisconsin,” Griffin wrote. “I would also like to say thank you to the staff for their hospitality.”

According to the composite rankings, Griffin was rated as the No. 342 player in the 2022 recruiting class and the No. 52 receiver. He will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.

Wisconsin Football Looking to Add Another Receiver

Following the conclusion of spring camp, it’s become clear that the Badgers want to add another boundary receiver with multiple years of eligibility to the Wisconsin football program.

In two seasons at Boston College under Jeff Hafley, Griffin caught 43 passes for 579 yards and six touchdowns in offensive 955 snaps. As a sophomore, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound receiver from Massachusetts was targeted 55 times and had 25 catches for 345 yards and a score.

According to Pro Football Focus, Griffin received a grade of 58.7 last season, which falls within the average range according to their metric. However, as a freshman, he earned a 65.0 offensive grade.

Wisconsin football has one of its boundary receiver spots spoken for heading into fall camp, which belongs to Bryson Green. Will Pauling and Trech Kekahuna will play most, if not all, of the slot snaps in 2024, but some added competition on the outside certainly wouldn’t hurt.

If the season started today, Badgers wide receivers coach Kenny Guiton said Vinny Anthony would be the starter opposite of Green. However, C.J. Williams and Quincy Burroughs also figure to see the field in some capacity this fall.

It’ll be interesting to see how someone like Griffin could figure into the Wisconsin football team’s immediate plans if he chooses to come aboard.
