With Georgia looming, the clock is close to striking midnight for Tennessee

No. 2 Tennessee makes the next stop on its Cinderella run as it heads into a meeting against No. 1 Georgia. By the time the clock strikes zero, the Volunteers' may not recognize the horse-drawn carriage they rode into town.

As much hype as Tennessee's offense has (rightfully) gotten, Georgia's defense may be the most dominant unit on the field this Saturday.

Georgia is allowing 262.6 yards per game, fourth best in football, and allowing 10.5 points, second-best. They're led by safety Christopher Smith — Pro Football Focus grades him as the 15th best safety out of 768 — as he leads the team with two interceptions. He's also tallied 27 tackles, three deflections, a sack and a fumble recovery. Linebacker Nolan Smith has also been a force. He grades 41st out of 881 edge rushers, and he's contributed 18 tackles, three sacks and a pass deflection.

They'll be tasked with facing a Tennessee offense that is the most prolific in the sport. They are averaging 553 yards and 49.4 points, both best in football. Quarterback Hendon Hooker's emerged as a legitimate contender for the Heisman Trophy. He is 156-of-219 (71.2%) for 2,338 yards, 21 touchdowns and one interception. Receiver Jalin Hyatt has been his favorite target with 45 receptions for 907 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Per Football Outsiders, the Bulldogs' defense has a "busted drive rate" of 22.2 percent — fourth-best in the nation. According to Football Outsiders, a busted drive is described as an "opponent[s] offensive drive ... that gain[s] zero or negative yards."

Georgia's defense ranks as the best in football, per Football Outsiders. Tennessee's offense ranks fifth.

The Volunteers suffer a busted drive on just 4.6% of possessions, per Football Outsiders. They are one of the most explosive offenses in football, and one predicated on getting first downs to get defenses on their heels. Per Team Rankings, Tennessee is second in football averaging .627 points per play. Georgia's defense allows the third-fewest points per play at .197.

Per Oddschecker, Georgia is an eight-point favorite. ESPN gives the Bulldogs a 74.9% chance of winning.

Georgia's defense has the playmakers to put a stop to Tennessee's stunning streak. The defense excels at getting offenses out of rhythm, something essential for the Volunteers' high-octane attack.

Tennessee's offense versus Georgia's defense will be a heavyweight fight. If the Bulldogs get the knockout, Tennessee will wake up to find that its carriage turned back into a pumpkin.
