The class of 2024 was a significant win for the Oklahoma Sooners , pulling in a top-ten class in the country that has already started paying major dividends with players like Eli Bowen, Jayden Jackson, David Stone, and Taylor Tatum.
Even players like Zion Kearney , Reggie Powers III, and Danny Okoye have garnered plenty of buzz ever since they stepped foot on campus, and all seemed primed to be breakout candidates for the Sooners in 2025.
However, one unheralded recruit from that class has already taken a significant step forward and has already worked his way into working with the first-team units in fall camp, despite it being very early in the process.
Devon Jordan, a three-star recruit in the class of 2024, played his high school career right down the road from Norman, Oklahoma, playing for Union High School in Tulsa. Jordan was the fourth-ranked player in the state that year and the 36th-ranked cornerback in the class.
Despite his low ranking from the recruiting services, he's already made quite a name for himself on campus and has made his mark in the battle for the starting cornerback job opposite of Eli Bowen.
Jordan played in four games as a freshman last year, appearing against Temple, Texas, South Carolina, and Maine, and totaled just 42 snaps on defense while seeing regular action on special teams.
Brent Venables says that #Sooners sophomore CB Devon Jordan is “as talented as anyone we have on the team.”

High praise for the Tulsa Union product. @ESPNDari and @TravisSkol are somewhere smiling. pic.twitter.com/hpUm1AX1N9
If Jordan does win the starting job, he would be the second starting cornerback the Sooners plucked from the class of 2024, joining Bowen. Oddly enough, both of their starting cornerbacks would be three-star recruits from the same class, which feels like a remarkable coincidence.
So far, the battle is far, far too early to tell who will emerge victorious here. However, don't be shocked to see this homegrown Oklahoma talent become a major player for the Sooners in 2025 and beyond.
