The Boston Terriers hockey team took down rival Boston College in the Beanpot final, 4-1, on Monday. They asserted their rivalry dominance late in the action.

With the final outcome all but decided, Boston fans took over the Eagles students’ section. They then proceeded to troll their hated foe in celebration.

The Terriers upset top-ranked Boston College to claim Beanpot bragging rights. The four-team tournament also includes Harvard and Northeastern, which played in a consolation game earlier in the day.

The title matchup was decided between BU and BC, with the underdog coming out victorious after falling behind early. The Eagles led the contest 1-0 at the end of the first period. The Terriers would score the next four goals of the game. They put an exclamation point on the win with an empty-netter late in the action.

The win avenged previous defeats at the hands of the Eagles. Boston College swept through a two-game home-and-home series in January, outscoring Boston 8-2 in the process. The victory also gave the Terriers an opportunity to troll.

Boston College prides itself on having the top students’ section in college hockey. That wasn’t on display Monday.

Boston fans invaded the Eagles’ cheering section and dropped a “BC Sucks” flag while watching the Terriers dominate on the ice.

For Boston, it represented redemption after losing their first two games to Boston College. The Terriers wouldn’t let the moment pass without a rivalry jab. With the Beanpot now behind them, the two sides will focus on getting to the NCAA Frozen Four. Each currently ranks among the Top 10 team in the nation.
