Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh made history on Friday by becoming the first Indian bowler to claim 100 wickets in men’s T20 internationals. The 26-year-old reached the landmark during India’s Asia Cup clash against Oman, marking his first appearance in the tournament. After missing India’s opening two matches as the team retained an unchanged XI, Arshdeep replaced Jasprit Bumrah in the playing eleven.

His milestone wicket came in the final over of Oman’s 189-run chase, dismissing Vinayak Shukla and etching his name into the record books. India had earlier put up 188/8 after choosing to bat first, with Sanju Samson anchoring the innings with a composed 56 off 45 balls. Contributions from Abhishek Sharma, Axar Patel, and Tilak Varma helped India set a challenging target.

Arshdeep Singh’s 100th T20I wicket added another milestone to his rising international career.

From Debut to Elite Club: Arshdeep Singh Takes 100th T20I Wicket

Since debuting in 2022, Arshdeep has earned a reputation for his consistent bowling, troubling batters with swing upfront and precise death bowling. He now boasts 100 wickets in 64 matches, joining an elite group of just 25 players worldwide to achieve the feat.

His career-best remains 4 for 9 against the USA at the 2024 T20 World Cup, a performance that highlighted his effectiveness with the new ball. More recently, he has taken 20 wickets in 11 matches since that tournament, solidifying his status as a crucial component of India’s T20 setup.

India’s bowlers aim to capitalize on their current momentum as they advance toward the Super Four stage, with the upcoming clash against Pakistan on September 21 representing their sternest challenge yet. However, for Arshdeep Singh, the spotlight was on a single delivery, the one that secured his 100th wicket and etched his name into India’s cricketing history.
