IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal has strongly backed Indian cricket icons Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, dismissing speculations about their possible exit from One-Day Internationals (ODIs). In a recent statement, Dhumal highlighted that both players remain deeply committed to the national team and continue to inspire the next generation.

Emphasizing their dedication and fitness, he said their performances prove that age is just a number when passion and discipline drive a player’s journey. According to Dhumal, “People think they are going, but they are not going. They are here to stay.”

Bench Strength and Rising Talent in Indian Cricket

Dhumal also spoke about India’s remarkable bench strength and how the cricketing ecosystem keeps producing young, talented players ready to take on the international stage. He cited the example of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 14-year-old prodigy who is already drawing attention with his skill and determination. “We’ve been talking about this bench strength of the Indian team for a long, long time. But look at this team, a 14-year-old wonder, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, he’s knocking at the door to be part of the team,” Dhumal remarked.

Despite the constant influx of young players, he stressed that the presence of stalwarts like Rohit and Kohli adds invaluable experience and guidance to the squad. Their coexistence with emerging stars, he suggested, is what keeps Indian cricket both stable and dynamic.

Dedication, Hard Work, and Legacy

Arun Dhumal praised the professionalism and hunger that both Kohli and Rohit continue to display even after more than a decade at the top level. Using Rohit Sharma’s recent ODI series performance as an example, he said, “The way Rohit has shown his class in this ODI series, at that age, coming as player of the match in the final match and then player of the series, that shows the kind of conviction that they carry.”

Dhumal noted that both players exemplify what it means to give their best for Team India, underscoring their work ethic and consistency. “When it comes to Team India, they will want to give it their best. And that is the true reflection of a sportsman,” he added.

Concluding his remarks, Dhumal expressed gratitude for their contribution: “My best wishes to both of them. They have done wonderful. They have given their life to Indian cricket.”
