Australia and India are set to clash in the first T20I of the five-match series on Wednesday, October 29, at the scenic Manuka Oval in Canberra. This marks their first 20-over face-off in over 16 months, the last coming during the 2024 World Cup, which India won.
The hosts Australia have been in excellent recent form in all formats. And while playing 20-over matches, they have lost only one of the latest five games. Their big gun pacer Josh Hazlewood has been consistent with the ball, and in return, becomes a deadly threat to the opposing team. Besides captain Marsh, opening batsman Travis Head, Matt Short and Josh Inglis also contribute strength to the Aussies' batting line-up.
The Indian side, however, will be coming into the competition after claiming the Asia Cup in their previous activity in the format when they defeated arch-rivals Pakistan. There is very little change in the team that played the T20Is, with Nitish Kumar Reddy being the sole addition to the team from the continental competition. While both the teams are on a rich vein of form, the competition in store will be a delicious one.

Manuka Oval is of recent times one of the most popular T20I grounds in the nation. The ground in the capital city has staged five 20-over matches since its inaugural one in 2019, and 40 per cent of the match outcomes have resulted in favour of the chasing sides. Any score above 180 can be regarded as a winning score at this ground. But the pitch provides as much help to the pursuing team, who test the bowlers' ability.
The weather in Manuka Oval, Canberra is expected to remain clear throughout the entire match, with no rain predicted. The temperature is likely to range between 24°C to 16°C, with a humidity of around 79%, which is likely to assist spinners out there.
