Australian skipper Pat Cummins and the rest of his teammates have been in the news recently. As reports have indicated, some of the big-name stars from Down Under have rejected the new contracts offered to them. Former Australian skipper and current chairman of selectors, George Bailey, ultimately denied those claims and called it ‘normal for this time of the year’.

Now, as per a new report carried in Aussie newspaper The Age, several established Australian stars are reportedly planning to skip the Big Bash League (BBL) to play the SA20 league in 2028. The article especially put out the national team skipper Pat Cummins name as one of the ‘big-name’ stars who are demanding more money to play in the Australian league. The same article also reported that if terms weren’t met, then the players wanted NOCs to play in the SA20 league.

33-year-old Cummins wasn’t impressed with the fact that his name was associated with the report. Aussie skipper took to his x-handle and posted a tweet which read, “Everything you’ve written about me in this about SAT20 NOC and The Hundred offer is made up.”

The Age also reported that apart from Cummins, the likes of Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood were looked at as potential candidates to play in The Hundred league this year. The trio were apparently offered $800,000 each to sign for the league, but the deal didn’t go through since Australia is set to host Bangladesh in August for a two-test series.

Sunrisers Hyderabad bracing for two tough fixtures

Meanwhile, the World Cup-winning Aussie skipper will be keen to focus his energies on IPL 2026 for his Sunrisers Hyderabad side. The former champions have just two games left to play this season. The Men in Orange are currently third in the table with 14 points after their 82-run loss to the Gujarat Titans in their last game.

Hyderabad next travel to Chennai to take on the home team, and then their final game of the league phase is against defending champions Royal Challengers Bengalurusun (RCB). If SRH has to make it to the playoffs, they have to win both their games. Failure to do so could mean that they would have to depend on other results going their way.
