England lost their top order on the first morning of the Hyderabad Test despite making a rapid start. Opting to bat first having picked a spin-heavy attack, England blazed off the blocks against the new ball with Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley putting on 55 for the first wicket. However, once India introduced their famous spin duo of R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, England lost wickets in a heap to nosedive to 60/3 before Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow counter-punched to take them to 108/3 at Lunch break.
Both, however, fell on the other side of Lunch. While Bairstow copped an unplayable gem from Axar, Root chose the wrong ball to sweep off Jadeja as short fine leg settled underneath the top edge.
Earlier, England scored a boundary each in the first eight overs, all by pacers. Crawley and Duckett pounced on every scoring opportunity and coerced Rohit Sharma into having in-out fields.
