Former Pakistan bowler Waqar Younis slammed the third umpire for declaring Fakhar Zaman out in the IND vs PAK Super 4 match 2 in the Asia Cup 2025.
On the third delivery of the third over of Pakistan’s innings, the ball took the outside edge of Fakhar’s bat, and India wicket-keeper Sanju Samson grabbed the white cherry. The on-field umpires were not sure and took the third official’s call.
After checking several replays, Ruchira Palliyaguruge gave the opening batter his marching orders. Zaman was furious with the decision and said something to one of the officials. Pakistan coach Mike Hesson spoke to Fakhar outside the dressing room, and the head of the support staff was seen raising his hands in anger.

When the camera zoomed in, it was absolutely clear that the ball landed safely in Sanju Samson’s gloves.

Waqar, who was in the commentary box with Ravi Shastri, declared the batter out and questioned the umpire’s call.
“The ball clearly touched the ground before Sanju Samson grabbed it. There is no way he was out. The third umpire should have checked replays from different angles. Fakhar knew that the ball had hit the ground, and that’s why he was standing there. For me, Fakhar was not out,” Waqar Younis said.
