The Bangladesh Cricket Board has brought in James Pamment as the new fielding coach for the men’s cricket team. He joins the team ahead of the two-test series against Zimbabwe.

Pamment replaced Nic Pothas, who resigned from the position early this year. Pamment is expected to coach Bangladesh through the ODI World Cup in October and November 2027. He brings in rich and experienced coaching skills. Since 2018 he served as the assistant coach for Mumbai India, in the IPL, and he left the role later in 2024.

The England-born cricketer resided in New Zealand, and he represented Auckland in first-class cricket. He served as a fielding resource coach and special technical advisor for New Zealand's under-19 team and New Zealand A.

In 2011, he was the assistant coach in the home series against Pakistan. His coaching career featured the USA team, where he briefly served in the role of interim coach. For five years he was the head coach for the Northern District Association.

Phil Simmons, who is the head coach, had his contract extended through 2027 as well. The BCB wants to have an outstanding coaching staff. Later this month, a series against Zimbabwe is scheduled to take place in Sylhet and Chattogram.

The Bangladesh team for the upcoming Zimbabwe home series includes Najmul Hossain Shanto (C), Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Shadman Islam, Zakir Hasan, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan Ankon, Jaker Ali Anik, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan, Nahid Rana, Hasan Mahmud, Syed Khaled Ahmed, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib.

Bangladesh will be without the services of Taskin Ahmed and Litton Das. The former is due to a left calcaneal tendon complication, and the latter is committed to the Karachi Kings in the upcoming Pakistan Premier League.
