The uncertainty surrounding Mohsin Naqvi’s attendance was finally put to rest when the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman arrived at the ICC headquarters in Dubai on Friday afternoon (November 7). Naqvi’s participation in the ICC meetings had been doubtful due to his recent absence from such events, but he ultimately attended the gathering in person.

According to Cricbuzz, the discussion among ICC Board members was marked by cordiality rather than conflict when the Asia Cup matter came up. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) highlighted that Naqvi, acting as the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman, still possessed the Asia Cup trophy, which rightfully belonged to India, the Indian team, and the BCCI.

Representing India at the meeting, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia reportedly emphasized that the trophy should be handed over to India without delay. The conversation, however, was largely informal and took place during casual interactions among the board members rather than in an official session.

BCCI Urges Immediate Handover Of Asia Cup Trophy To India; Committee Formation Under Consideration

If necessary, a committee may be established to look into the matter, though as of Friday night, there was no confirmation of such a panel being formed. The BCCI has consistently maintained that the Asia Cup trophy should be promptly handed over to India. It is widely known that the trophy remains secured inside the ACC office in Dubai, under instructions from Mohsin Naqvi that it cannot be moved without his personal approval.

Naqvi, who also serves as a minister in the Pakistan government, reportedly came under pressure from international cricket administrators for not transferring the trophy to India, who defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup final held in Dubai on September 28.

While BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and other board officials were unavailable for comment, reports suggest that ICC Board members shared a common view — that the issue must be settled as soon as possible.
