Axar Patel and Ajinkya Rahane head to the Arun Jaitley Stadium knowing that their season is hanging by a thread in the IPL 2026. One loss could derail their hopes of a place in the top four, with the other teams starting to create a distance. Both sides are coming into the encounter on the back of varying results from their last game.
Delhi Capitals (DC) played really ordinary cricket in the game against Chennai Super Kings at home and lost by eight wickets. Capitals are seventh in the table with eight points from the ten games they have played. Win on Friday will put them on level pegging with Chennai and renew hopes of a final flourish to the finish line.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have stunned everyone with their sudden surge after winning three successive games. Former IPL winners still have five games left to play and have seven points so far. If Kolkata win all their remaining games, they will end up with 17 points and, with a few other results going their way, the Knight Riders could very well achieve the unthinkable.
Kuldeep Yadav vs Rinku Singh
The battle between the two Indian stars could be the one to watch out for on Friday night. Kuldeep has a long history with KKR, having played for the franchise for a few years. The left-arm wrist spinner hasn’t been at his best in the last few games, but will want to find form against his former side. If DC has to win, they have to get rid of Rinku Singh, who is a dangerous batter against the spinners and will want to take the attack to Kuldeep. The small boundaries could also help the left-handed batter, known to hit big sixes.
Kartik Tyagi vs KL Rahul
KL Rahul has been one of the consistent batters in the ongoing season of the IPL. With 445 runs, the veteran batter is looking at yet another 500-run season with the bat. For KKR, the bowler who could negate the threat that Rahul presents is young seamer Kartik Tyagi. The right-arm fast bowler has been bowling well this season and also taken key wickets with the ball, early in the innings as well as the death overs.
Mitchell Starc vs Finn Allen
Australian seamer Mitchell Starcdc vs was a part of KKR when they won the title in 2024. The left-arm seamer is a key bowler for Delhi and can knock off the best batters with the new ball with his high speed and knack to swing the ball into the batters. Finn Allen will be keen to score quick runs for his side and give them a quick start on what could be a great track in Delhi, and put pressure on their bowling ace early in the game.
