James Anderson, who plies his trade for Lancashire in County cricket and knows the conditions in Manchester like the back of his hand, has returned to England’s playing eleven for the fourth Ashes Test which will be played in Old Trafford. The veteran seamer replaces Ollie Robinson.
Anderson played in the first two Ashes Tests that Australia clinched and was subsequently replaced by Mark Wood in the third encounter in Headingley. England clawed their way back into the series with a win, with Wood picking a five-wicket haul in the first innings. He retains his place in the team for the Manchester game as Robinson make way for the veteran pacer who turns 41 later this month.
The fourth Test starts on July 19, 2023.
