Finn Allen has notched up his first IPL half century as Kolkata Knight Riders are chasing Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Chasing a target of 143, Allen played a fluent knock at the top order and reached his first 50 of the tournament with a six off Mitchell Starc in the 11th over.
The New Zealander got to his fifty in grand style after scooping a full toss over fine leg for six. It was a special knock for Allen's IPL career as he brought up his first half century in the league.
The knock has come at a time when KKR are fighting to stay in the playoff race.
Earlier this season Allen has shown glimpses of form but could not convert a good start into a huge knock. His previous IPL 2026 scores are 29 and 28 against SRH, 1 against CSK, 9 vs LSG, 6 against Punjab Kings, and 37 against Mumbai Indians.
Despite making a few good starts he has not been able to make it to a 50 before playing Delhi Capitals.
One of the top order batters were needed to make a decent score consistently during the final stages of the tournament, and this innings of Finn Allen will hopefully make an impact for KKR going forward.
The arrival of Allen into the form, came at a pivotal moment with KKR in need of wins to stay alive in the playoffs race in the IPL 2026. Three time IPL champions will consider each and every remaining match as crucial following an inconsistent campaign in this year's edition of the IPL.
Allen took the game positively and maintained KKR in control of the chase despite losing quick wickets during the powerplay overs.
The aggressive nature with which Allen tackled both pacers and spin further reduced the pressure on the middle order as well as pushed the run rate during the chase.
With the IPL 2026 playoff picture getting intensely competitive, KKR would be praying for Allen to maintain this form until the final matches of the season as this maiden IPL fifty can prove a point of no return for both the batter and the franchise.
