New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips, who is playing for Gujarat Titans, has been sidelined for IPL 2025 because of a groin injury. The 28-year-old sustained the injury in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
He was brought on as a fielder in the fifth over of the game. After chasing down Ishan Kishan's shot and throwing the ball back, Philip instantly collapsed in agony, grasping his groin. He has traveled back to New Zealand for treatment. Philip has been brilliant with his cricketing skills, as demonstrated in the Champions Trophy, contributing to New Zealand's success, although they lost the finals to India.
Previously, Glenn Philips has played eight IPL matches for SunRisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals, accumulating 65 runs. Gujarat Titans will also be without the service of South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada, who also exited the team and traveled back home, citing personal reasons.
In the match, the Titans restricted their opponents to 152/8 in 20 overs thanks to Siraj’s four-wicket haul, and he was awarded the player of the match title. He destroyed the SRH batters, catching both Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, and went on to record the best bowling figures for the Titans as they cruised to a seven-wicket victory.
The team had purchased seven overseas players, and now they are left with Jos Buttler, Sherfane Rutherford, Rashid Khan, Gerald Coetzee, and Karim Janat. Currently, they are at the top of the IPL 2025 standings table with four wins in five matches and eight points. They defeated the Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Rajasthan Royals. They are scheduled to lock horns with Lucknow Super Giants.
