After the India–Pakistan match, the “no handshake” controversy has taken a new turn. On September 14, following India’s 7-wicket victory, Team India went straight back to the dressing room, while the Pakistani players remained standing on the field. The matter has now escalated, with Pakistani players believing that this act goes against the spirit of sportsmanship.

Now, the BCCI has broken its silence on the issue. Speaking to PTI, a BCCI official said:
“There is no mention of a handshake in the rules. It is only a tradition and a gesture of goodwill, not a law.”

He further added that India is under no obligation to do it, especially when relations between the two countries have remained tense.
