Hardik Pandya Endured Tough IPL 2026 Season

Hardik Pandya re-joined Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2024 season after guiding Gujarat Titans to their first IPL crown in 2022. Pandya's appointment as skipper in place of Rohit Sharma has been one of the hot topics of IPL 2024 season with the verdict being split among the fans of the game. Pandya was heavily criticized by the fans and was even booed on during the whole of the Wankhede Stadium IPL 2024 season.

Mumbai Indians finished bottom in IPL 2024 then bounced back to reach playoffs in 2025. IPL 2026 was another bad year for the IPL team and Hardik also.

The same could be said about the other all-rounder. In 10 games he scored 206 runs at an average of 22.89 with a strike rate of 138.25. His highest was 40 and he could not have been much worse with the ball as he only managed to take four wickets across the whole season.

His performances also raised new doubts about his form and captaincy which added weight to last season's trade gossip.

However the Mumbai Indianshave now spoken on their stand. The franchise has said that it is not in trade talks presently and that it would spend time on making the decision regarding the squad for IPL 2027.
