India and Karnataka batter KL Rahul was dismissed by a brilliant delivery from Punjab spinner Harpreet Brar during the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy match in Mohali on Friday, January 30. The left-arm spinner completely deceived Rahul as the ball clipped through and knocked back the middle stump.

The wicket fell in the 28th over when Brar pitched the ball around leg stump and got it to turn sharply, beating the right-hander and crashing into the stumps. Rahul scored an elegant 59 off 86 balls, hitting nine fours, and shared a 102-run partnership with Mayank Agarwal, who was later dismissed for 46 off 64 deliveries.

Brar, who has previously shared the IPL dressing room with Rahul at Punjab Kings, also picked up the wickets of KV Aneesh (32), Karnataka skipper Devdutt Padikkal (9), and Ravichandran Smaran (9).

Batting first, Punjab posted a total of 309, led by Abhijeet Garg’s resilient 81 at the top of the order and an impressive 83 from Emanjot Singh Chahal. Captain Uday Saharan chipped in with 44, while Anmol Malhotra added a useful 25.

KL Rahul Featured In India’s Recent ODI Series Against New Zealand

Meanwhile, KL Rahul last represented Team India in the recent ODI series against New Zealand. The 33-year-old played a crucial role in the opening match in Vadodara, scoring an unbeaten 29 to guide the hosts to victory from a difficult position.

He followed it up with a superb unbeaten 112 in the second ODI, rescuing India from 118/4 and helping them post a competitive 284/5, though New Zealand went on to chase the target comfortably.

Rahul managed only one in Indore as the visitors completed a historic series victory. Having missed out on selection for India’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad, the experienced batter is next expected to feature only in IPL 2026 for the Delhi Capitals.
