IND vs AUS match to restart at 12:20 PM IST, innings reduced to 35 overs

The first match between India and Australia will restart at 12:20 PM, with the innings reduced to 35 overs each for both sides. The proceedings were impacted by rain on two occasions, with the second break lasting a few hours. India were 37/3 in 11.5 overs, with Shreyas Iyer (6) and Axar Patel (7) in the middle.

The visitors suffered three setbacks early in the innings, with Rohit Sharma (8), Virat Kohli (0) and Shubman Gill (10) heading back to the dressing room. Rohit, who was playing his first international match after seven months, was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood. Kohli registered his first duck in an ODI in Australia, courtesy Mitchell Starc. The Men in Blue’s new skipper, Gill, was undone by Nathan Ellis.

Mitchell Marsh won the toss and decided to bowl first to take advantage of the pace and bounce on offer at the Optus Stadium.
