India became the second team to play 250 T20Is in the contest against Oman in the Asia Cup 2025. Pakistan, who have played 275 matches in the shortest format, lead the list. New Zealand, with 235 T20Is, are third while West Indies (228) occupies the fourth spot. Sri Lanka have competed in 212 T20Is and are fifth. India captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and elected to bat first against Oman.

“We are batting first to give batting practice to our players. We bowled first in the two games, and it is time our batters spend time in the middle. Game time is important before the Super Four stage, and we want to continue the good habits that we showed in the first two games,” Suryakumar Yadav said.

Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh replaced Varun Chakravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah for the third and the last game of the group stage.

Oman skipper Jatinder Singh wanted to bat first as well. “I would have batted first. It is good to play against a team like India. We want to test ourselves, and the match will give exposure to our players,” Jatinder Singh said.
