The first ODI between India and Afghanistan has been delayed due to rain at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala. The wicket is still under cover, considering the weather. The toss was scheduled to take place at 1:00 pm IST, with the first ball to be bowled at 1:30 pm IST.
However, there is no official update on the new toss timings as umpires will wait for the rain to stop before taking any call. The Men in Blue are returning to ODI cricket after a long break from the format. They were involved in the 2026 T20 World Cup before the players left for the IPL 2026.
The IND vs AFG assignment is a big opportunity for the host nation to start preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. India are without Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya, who have been ruled out due to injuries. On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah has been rested while Mohammed Siraj was withdrawn to manage his workload.
Coming back to the series opener, the weather is likely to impact the proceedings in Dharamsala.
