IPL 2026 season has been heavily affected by injuries as around 20 players are either ruled out or under fitness issues, so the team managers had to make quick replacement which has definitely hurt the team combination and performance.

Some big players were ruled out even before the starting of the tournament while some injuries followed throughout the tournaments and the latest to add to this are Chennai Super Kings pace bowler Khaleel Ahmed and Sunrisers Hyderabad's David Payne. Mumbai Indians also remain uncertain about the fitness of Rohit Sharma as he is currently nursing a hamstring injury.

Players Awaiting Clearance

There are few big names that are yet to be ruled out but are doubtful to feature in the team due to some injuries or the lack of approval from medical boards:

Players Team Injury Status
Mitchell Starc DC Shoulder/Elbow Awaiting clarity
MS Dhoni CSK Groin Under observation
Rohit Sharma MI Hamstring Uncertain
Matheesha Pathirana KKR Hamstring Recovering
Pat Cummins SRH Lower back Awaiting clearance

Rohit Sharma will miss a game or two, while Cummins is likely to feature against Rajasthan Royals.

The players injury and replacements have indeed cost teams in this tournament. CSK, SRH and KKR are one such team which has continuously had to juggle between their playing XI. Young players being given a chance has benefited some sides, while a lack of consistency remains a worry for some of the sides as experienced players are ruled out with injuries.

With time progressing into the latter half of the tournament, fitness will be a major factor in teams challenging for the playoff positions and the teams that possess significant squad depth without too much damage on account of injuries will definitely have an edge over others.
