Jasprit Bumrah wasted no time making an impact after the lunch break on Day 3 of the second Test between India and the West Indies in Delhi. In his very first over post-interval, the pacer dismissed Khary Pierre for 23 off 46 balls, as the West Indies lost their ninth wicket at 221. The breakthrough also ended a stubborn 46-run partnership off 97 deliveries between Pierre and Anderson Phillip for the ninth wicket.

The dismissal occurred in the 73rd over of the West Indies’ first innings. Jasprit Bumrah delivered a length ball around off stump that straightened after pitching, leaving Pierre beaten in his defence. The ball crashed into the off stump, sending it tumbling—a signature effect of Bumrah’s pace and accuracy. This wicket marked Bumrah’s first of the match.

India’s Bowlers Dominate, Bumrah Joins Jadeja And Kuldeep In Wickets

India maintained complete control over proceedings on Day 3 as spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja continued to dominate the West Indies batting lineup. Kuldeep led the attack with four wickets to his name, while Jadeja followed closely with three scalps. At the current score of 240/9, the visitors remain under tremendous pressure in their first innings.

Earlier, India declared their innings at a commanding 518/5 after opting to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal anchored the innings with a superb 175 off 258 balls, featuring 22 fours, before being run out in unfortunate fashion. Skipper Shubman Gill extended his excellent form with a composed unbeaten 129 off 196 deliveries, striking 16 boundaries and two sixes.

Sai Sudharsan impressed with a fluent 87, narrowly missing out on a maiden Test hundred. Contributions from Dhruv Jurel and Nitish Reddy, both scoring in the 40s, along with KL Rahul’s 38, further strengthened India’s total. For the West Indies, Jomel Warrican stood out with the ball, finishing with figures of 3/98.

India, already leading the two-match series 1-0 after an innings and 140-run victory in Ahmedabad, continue their dominance. Notably, they have remained unbeaten against the West Indies at home in Test cricket since the 1994/95 series.
