Football legend Lionel Messi unveiled a towering 70-foot statue at the Sree Bhumi Sporting Club in Lake Town, Kolkata, on Saturday as part of his GOAT India Tour 2025. The event drew huge crowds and was attended by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Uruguayan striker Luis Suárez.

Adding to the excitement,Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka also met Messi during the Argentine star’s first visit to India in 14 years, creating a memorable moment for fans.

The massive iron statue, depicting Messi lifting the FIFA World Cup trophy, has been installed at the Sree Bhumi Sporting Club in Lake Town, South Dum Dum, as a tribute to the football icon. Shah Rukh Khan attended the ceremony with his youngest son AbRam, posing for photos with Messi. Khan wore a grey hoodie, muted-toned pants, and a black cap, while AbRam sported a black tracksuit.

Sujit Bose, West Bengal Minister and President of Sree Bhumi Sporting Club, said,“Messi and his team are pleased with the statue set up in Lake Town.”
