Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had a terrific start while chasing a gigantic 227 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Match 6 of IPL 2026 at Eden Gardens. It was Finn Allen who started aggressively as he tonked boundaries and sixes with pure brilliance as KKR achieved a flying start with his bat in the run chase.
The batter took David Payne to the cleaners on the very first ball he faced. While the first ball was a single, the rest of the over was sheer dominance. Allen smashed a total of three fours and two sixes and each shot was better than the previous one.
By the end of the first over KKR already scored 25 runs with Allen being the major contributor with 24 runs. This attacking knock put the pressure back on SRH and gave KKR fans hopes for a record chase.
With that brilliant 24 in the first over of the match, Finn Allen became part of the batters who have scored the most runs in the first over of an IPL match, placing himself among some top names.
Most runs by a batter in the 1st over of an IPL match:
| Runs in 1st Over | Players | Against | Year |

| 24 | Prithvi Shaw | KKR | 2021 |

Although he made such a blistering start it was not to be that he stayed for long. Harsh Dubey gave a massive blow to SRH by dismissing Finn Allen in the second over of the match. Harsh Dubey bowled a tossed up delivery and Allen hammered it straight towards Dubey. Harsh grabbed the ball showing excellent reflexes and Allen had to depart with 28 runs from his bat on the 7 balls he faced in his quick fire innings including four boundaries and a couple of sixes.
