Kuldeep Yadav has emerged as India’s standout performer in the ongoing 2025 Asia Cup. The left-arm wrist-spinner from Kanpur has already taken seven wickets in just two Group A matches, underlining his importance to the Suryakumar Yadav-led side.

His next outing will be against Oman on Friday, September 19, at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, where he will have a golden chance to etch his name in history. With 26 wickets in 13 Asia Cup matches across formats, Kuldeep is only four dismissals away from surpassing Ravindra Jadeja and becoming India’s all-time leading wicket-taker in the tournament.

Chasing Jadeja and Malinga’s Records

Currently, Ravindra Jadeja holds the top spot for India with 29 Asia Cup wickets collected across 26 matches in ODIs and T20Is. Having retired from T20Is last year, Jadeja’s tally now stands as the immediate target for Kuldeep. Beyond India’s records, the spinner also has his eyes set on an even bigger landmark. Sri Lanka’s legendary pacer Lasith Malinga tops the overall Asia Cup charts with 33 wickets in just 15 matches.

If Kuldeep manages to dismiss at least eight more batters during this edition, he will surpass Malinga as the most successful bowler in Asia Cup history. Given his recent form, the milestone is within striking distance.

India’s Bowling Milestones in Focus

Kuldeep’s progress is part of a wider story of Indian bowlers making their mark in the Asia Cup. In the T20I format, he has already bagged seven wickets in two games, quickly climbing the charts. The current record for most wickets in Asia Cup T20Is for India belongs to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has 13 wickets in six matches. He is followed closely by Hardik Pandya with 12 wickets in 10 outings, and Jasprit Bumrah with nine wickets in seven games. Kuldeep’s tally suggests that he could soon break into the top ranks of this list as well.

Meanwhile, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh is also on the cusp of personal glory. He needs just one wicket against Oman to reach 100 dismissals in T20Is, which would make him the first Indian bowler to join the prestigious 100-wicket club in the shortest format.

With form, momentum, and opportunity on his side, Kuldeep Yadav is not only carrying India’s spin hopes but also chasing records that could cement his legacy in Asia Cup history.
