Lucknow Super Giants came into the IPL 2026 auction with a leftover purse of ₹22.95 crore, seeking to bolster essential areas prior to the upcoming season. The first player to be acquired by them was the spin-bowling all-rounder of Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga, who was bought at his minimum price of ₹2 crore after going through no competitive bidding.

Hasaranga, who was released by Rajasthan Royals, had been one of the top players in the league taking 26 wickets in the season of 2022. However, his performance fell in the following years. Still, LSG found seeing his experience and versatility particularly so after they let go of their main spinner, Ravi Bishnoi.

LSG made another great spending move by getting the South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje for his minimum price of ₹2 crore. The fast bowler who was released by the Kolkata Knight Riders will be bringing his speed and aggression into the bowling unit of Lucknow.

One more significant addition was the Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis, who joined the team for ₹8.60 crore after being let go by the Punjab Kings. His explosive batting provides the franchise’s middle order with the depth needed.
