In a nail-biting Nepal Premier League eliminator held at Kirtipur, the Lumbini Lions narrowly defeated the Kathmandu Gorkhas by four wickets. The Gorkhas set a target of 111 runs in 19.1 overs, with the top scorer being Santosh Yadav, who made 23 runs off 17 balls. Next to him was Mohammad Aadil Alam, who scored 18 runs off 11 balls, followed by John Simpson and Bhim Sharki, who contributed 18 and 16 runs, respectively.
The bowler Sher Malla was the main figure for Lumbini, getting rid of three of the Gorkhas’ top batsmen, besides captain Rohit Paudel, who also took three wickets. Santosh Yadav was the other Gorkha batsman with two wickets under his belt. Karan KC, Sunney Patel, Shahab Alam, and Rashid Khan each have one.
Lumbini chased down the 112-run target in 17.4 overs with a composed batting display. D’Arcy Short led the charge with 33 runs off 34 balls, followed by Sundeep Jora’s 23 runs in 23 balls. Captain Rohit Paudel contributed 18 runs in 25 balls, while Niroshan Dickwella struck 14 runs in 14 balls. Ruben Trumpelmann supported with two wickets for the Lions. Sher Malla’s three-wicket haul earned him player of the match honors, cementing Lumbini’s progression in the tournament.
