Michael Clarke believes Abhishek Sharma could finish as the highest run-scorer in the upcoming T20I series between India and Australia. Following an entertaining ODI series, both teams are gearing up for a five-match T20I showdown beginning on Wednesday, 29 October, at Manuka Oval, Canberra.
Abhishek has been in tremendous touch throughout 2025, scoring freely in T20Is with an average close to 50 and a strike rate above 200 in 12 appearances. The left-hander was in form in the Asia Cup 2025, where he earned the Player of the Tournament award after piling up over 300 runs at an average of 44.85 and a strike rate of 200 across seven matches.
Speaking on the Beyond23 Cricket Podcast (31:12 mark),
“I think Abhishek is ready for all three formats. It’s tough, since only eleven players can make the side, and six of them are batters. But to me, he’s a genuine superstar in this format, a left-handed opener with every shot in the book.”
Abhishek Sharma, who has already played 24 T20Is for India, is yet to test himself against Australia. Clarke backed Adam Zampa to lead the wicket tally. The Aussie leggie has 131 scalps in 106 T20Is, averaging 21.38 at an economy of 7.33.
