The Islamabad United bowler Mir Hamza Sajjad is reportedly recovering from a fatal neck injury he sustained during a practice session in Karachi. According to a report from ESPN Cricinfo, Sajjad is back in his senses. He had talked to his family. Doctors confirmed that no blood clots have been found despite him losing consciousness after the ball struck.
Notably, Sajjad has not yet played a game for the Islamabad United. The franchise had asked him to leave and join his family. But the fast bowler insisted on staying back with the team. Islamabad will play against Lahore Qalandars tomorrow.

On Tuesday, April 7, the Islamad United was practicing at the Hanif Mohammed High Performance Centre in Karachi. Sajjad, who was technically a reserve bowler, got struck by a stray ball on his neck.
His teammate Mark Chapman was practicing nearby. Chapman hit a flat shot, which flew and hit Sajjad. Sajjad collapsed immediately and lost consciousness on the spot. The team stopped training immediately. His teammates ran in to rescue.
Team physio Cliffe Deacon administered emergency first aid. But then he was carried to the nearby Aga Khan University Hospital for treatment.
Sajjad got his senses back in the hospital. Doctors diagnosed a concussion. CT scans were done to him. And it ruled out the possibilities of any blood clots. He was kept under observation overnight before he was considered to join the team.
Notably, Islamad United bought him for 70 lakh PKR. He had played 8 first-class matches, taking 25 wickets. He took 8 wickets in 6 T20 matches he played.
